Registered Student Organizations There are a ton of student groups on every campus you can take part in. At the beginning of each year, there's usually an event where the groups on campus get together and you can speed-date them, and see which you would like to take part in! There are usually groups related to the following subjects:
Research If you want to get your hands dirty in the work of your major, you can do research with professors and graduate students! From lab-work to field-work, there's something for everyone. You can get paid doing it, too! Check your department website and talk with your adviser to see what opportunities are available.
Study Abroad Everyone says that you should study abroad during your time in college, and they're RIGHT! Studying abroad gives you a chance to travel and see new places and meet new people, all while earning college credit! There are other outside organizations that do programs too, but the majority of students go through their home university.
There is usually an application process, then in-person meetings with your group and professors. Be prepared to have to get a passport, buy airplane tickets, and have the time of your life!
PRO TIP: If you're flying internationally, fly out of Windsor airport instead of Detroit Metro. You can save some serious cash!
