If you don't know what to do with your life just yet.. don't worry! I know it's daunting to be thinking about a career that will be impacting your life for many years, but now is the time to start having an idea of what you'd like to do. Majors are what you study in college that gets you a degree in your chosen field. During college, you have tons of opportunities to work with professors, get your feet wet in careers, and network with professionals. Take advantage of these opportunities!
Some questions to ask yourself if you aren't sure:
Have I observed anyone in this field?
What are my interests and what intrigues me?
Where do my skills and abilities lie?
What are my motivations?
How much school do I need to get the career I want?
What kind of lifestyle do I want as an adult?
If you could do anything, but you wouldn't get paid for it, but you would still do it, what would you do?
What are you passionate about?
What are my values?
Major Resources Many students change majors at least once in college, and that's okay! Your college adviser here at CHS and eventually the major advisor at your chosen university are there to help you: you just need to advocate for yourself and reach out. College is about exploration, after all! I'd highly suggest you check out a specific university's degree offerings. Simply Google "(insert university here) undergraduate programs" and explore!
Career Resources Your career begins while in college: who you make connections with, what your internships or jobs have you partake in, and what you learn! Experience is extremely important. Make sure your college gives you hands-on experience, but also reach out and take the time to find opportunities on your own.
